Questions & Answers

Commonwealth Home Support Programme — common questions

CHSP is entry-level support for people with lower care needs — it funds individual services like meals or transport. A Home Care Package is a higher level of funding that gives you a budget to spend on multiple, coordinated services. CHSP is often a stepping stone while waiting for a package.
You pay a small client contribution toward each CHSP service — typically a few dollars per hour or per service. No one is denied services due to inability to pay. Costs are disclosed upfront.
CHSP is generally for people 65 and over (50+ for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people). If you're younger with disability needs, you may be better supported through the NDIS. Call us and we'll point you in the right direction.

Let us help you access the support you're entitled to.
